Absorbable Material: PDO Sutures! (Polydioxanone)

Polydioxanone sutures are used for biomedical applications, particularly in cardiothoracic surgeries because it is fully absorbed by hydrolysis within 4 to 6 months & doesn't create any scar tissue! The left-in-place sutures stimulate collagen synthesis & the skin structure created can hold for another 12 to 15 months!

Here at TCAM, our Medical Director uses minimally invasive techniques to anchor a specific type of PDO suture to hold tissue lifted up and in place! The tiny insertion site is numbed; there is minimal bruising risk; and the area can be sensitive as healing around the suture occurs. Generally, patients leave the office and promptly return to their normal life with no downtime at all! While there are other types of sutures (smooth type to promote collagen solely; twisted for volume, etc) those that lift lax tissue is most popular at TCAM! It’s always so gratifying when the patient is handed the mirror after the procedure, and what they were so preoccupied and bothered with beforehand, is now GONE! It’s such an amazing feeling to both the patient, and to US!
